How it all started...
Savannah United Methodist Church began as a small group meeting in homes back in 1820. For a while, the congregation met at the schoolhouse until a building could be constructed. The church building was built on Savannah Road.
In the 1970s, a new building was constructed on property purchased on Savannah Gardner Road, where the present building is located.

Another Step...
This image, taken from a brochure from the Building Committee in the late 1960s and early 1970s, shows the building many of our members still remember. Located on Savannah Road across from the current Savannah Cemetery, this building played a major role in the life of Savannah before the current church building was erected in the 1970s.
Now and Beyond...
With a long and rich history of making a difference in the lives of people in the New Castle area, Savannah United Methodist Church strives not only to grow as disciples of Jesus Christ by learning and growing within the church walls, Savannah also strives to reach out to the community at large, conveying the message of the love of Jesus Christ to those who may never have heard the message or experienced the relationship. Love as Christ, Live as Christ, Serve as Christ is the goal of each person who becomes a part of the Savannah church family.
